What is Travel Rule

The need for regulatory measures to combat money laundering and illicit activities has grown as the world embraces digital currencies and blockchain technologies. One critical regulation in this landscape is the Travel Rule, a requirement designed to ensure transparency in financial transactions and those involving virtual assets.

The Travel Rule, introduced by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), mandates that financial institutions, including Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASP), share certain information about transaction senders and recipients. Initially applied to traditional finance, the rule has now been extended to virtual asset transactions like cryptocurrency transfers.
