How to verify a wallet with a Travel Address?

What is Travel Address?

A Travel Address is a special type of address used in cryptocurrency transactions that includes extra information about the sender and receiver, ensuring compliance with the Travel Rule.

Travel Address is a string that is generated by service providers like Coinbase, Kraken, NiceHash, etc. as part of the DEPOSIT process.

Please note that not all service providers on the market support the Travel Address solution. Please read on to learn how to withdraw and deposit funds without a Travel Address.

Example of Travel Address: ta0GL5xFHqXKLshGd6fqZXUkrWUfFn1PU5sE6MGYpCTjqA5krw5sEKekL7WQix1AWPAz1w5g

This method can be used when the user has received a Travel Address from the counterparty VASP, which supports the Travel Rule Protocol (TRP).

To add a new withdrawal wallet address using this method, follow the steps below.

1. Add the new withdrawal address

2. Fill out all the required data:

  • BTC withdrawal address: enter the BTC withdrawal address

  • Address Name: specify the name for the address

  • Address origin: check the ''I'm using Travel address'' option
NOTE: Only select the ''I'm paying for goods/services to a legal entity'' checkbox when necessary. For example when paying a company for goods or services or when sending funds to a legal entity.

  • Travel Address: enter the travel address received from the counterparty VASP

  • Name: enter the recipient's name

  • Lastname: enter the recipient's last name

3. Double-check that the addresses match and that the data is correct. Verify this by clicking on the checkbox.

4. Click VERIFY

5. Enter the 2FA code when prompted.

6. Enter the email confirmation code (dashes included).

The example below shows how to fill out the Travel Rule data when provided with the Travel Address from a counterparty VASP (in this case NiceHash).
