A Zcash block halving is an event that happens roughly every 4 years.
It lowers the rate at which Zcash is generated and is programmed into Zcash's code.
Zcash's initial block reward was 12.5 ZEC, the current block reward is 3.125 ZEC and the new block reward will be 1.5625 ZEC.
The previous Zcash halving date was on the 18th of November 2020 and this will be the 2nd halving of Zcash, not counting the Blossom upgrade which reduced the block reward from 12.5 ZEC to 6.25 ZEC.
