Vertcoin halving

The halving event happens every 840.000 blocks or roughly every 4 years and lowers the rate at which VTC coins are generated.

Vertcoin's initial block reward was 50 VTC and the current VTC block reward is 12.5 VTC, after the halving, the block reward will be 6.25 VTC.

The previous Vertcoin halving date was on the 8th of December 2021 and this will be Vertcoin's 3rd halving.

Why was this done?
