The year is slowly coming to an end—the year brought many hard and sad moments worldwide, and the year where good news was rare. Nevertheless, we are proud we could get one of the good news to our users and the cryptocurrency industry.

On December 16, 2020, we were able to fully reimburse all users affected by the security breach in December of 2017. At the time, our company became the victim of the largest theft in Slovenian history. Still unknown criminals stole 4,640 bitcoins from our users, worth 55 million at the time and over 100 million US dollars today.

At the time, many tried to convince us that there was no solution for us. A flock of various consultants and experts began circulating us, persistently telling us that our story was over. Everybody started offering us different ways to shut down the company most elegantly and make the most of the collapse.

But we didn't listen to them.

We have started a hard and long-lasting fight for every penny of our users.

We couldn't know if we were going to make it. But we knew we had a duty to try. It is not just because of everyone who trusted us, but also because we believe in what we do. We represent the technology that is changing our lives for the better. We have become the platform that has brought the world of cryptocurrency mining closer to the broadest audiences.

We started to reimburse the damage gradually. We transferred every amount we didn't need for bare survival to our users' accounts. In the last three years, we have regularly waived profits. But we do not regret it, as it heralds the beginning of a new era of growth and development for us. We don't owe anyone anything anymore. We have fully settled all tax liabilities, and 4,640 bitcoins are again in our users' accounts.

We are immensely grateful to all of you who have not lost confidence in us when it would be the easiest thing to do. You believed in our honesty, and you trusted our promise to give you back everything that was lost. Above all, in our ability to keep our promise.

The Nicehash team put everything into this fight. Time, money, innovation, and creativity. I can hardly describe my colleagues' pride who did not give up even for a moment in providing top services to our users. I hope they realize how sincerely I am grateful to all of them. I'm thankful for the sacrifices, energy, and optimism the team brings to the office every day. Again and again.
