Mining KHeavyHash more efficiently with lolMiner!

When mining, we usually focus on obtaining as much hashrate as possible and often don't focus on power consumption. However, it can also be beneficial to look into mining efficiency as well, especially when electricity prices are high. Luckily, this mindset has spread all over the mining community and certain plugins offer additional commands that help improve the Hashrate performance per Watt on certain GPUs.

How to increase mining efficiency on Nvidia GPUs?

Follow the step below in order to increase the performance per Watt for certain Nvidia GPUs using lolMiner and its ELPs:

#1. Download NiceHash Miner version 3.1.0.6 or newer.

#2. (Optional) Use the Nvidia System Management Interface to check which core and memory settings your GPU supports:

  1. Click the Start button on Windows, type in CMD and run it
  2. Paste in the following command and click enter: nvidia-smi -i 0 --query-supported-clocks=gr,mem --format=csv
Note: change the -i 0 command to show the data for other GPUs in your system (example: -i 1)
  3. Take note of what Core and Memory value combinations your GPU supports
Note: some combinations may not work, despite being listed

#3. Follow our Optimisation guide and go to the ELP section of the GPU you wish to optimize.

#4. Enter the Core lock(--cclk), Memory lock(--mclk) and Core offset(--coff) commands for lolMiner and KHeavyHash.

Experiment and test which settings work best for your needs and for your GPUs by changing the values. A good starting value that should work with most supported GPUs is:

--cclk 1410 --mclk 810 --coff 100

Note that the --cclk and --mclk values will be automatically rounded to the nearest supported values listed in the Nvidia System Management Interface.

#5. Once you find the commands and values that work for you, Save the new profiles and create a new Bundle with them.

#6. Apply the newly created Bundle to the rig.
