Welcome to the NiceHash crypto news digest. Let's see what happened these last few days.
Texas Miners Profit From Heat Waves

Amid a Texas heatwave, ERCOT enacted emergency measures, causing Bitcoin miners to curtail operations.
Riot Platforms, a prominent miner, received $31 million in energy credits from ERCOT for reducing its energy use. The credits are a result of power trading, exploiting the difference between contract and market prices. By participating in ERCOT's Ancillary Services, miners can provide ERCOT control over their power usage, blending financial gain with grid needs.
Experts view this strategy as financially savvy, as miners can opt between mining Bitcoin or curtailing energy during high prices to sell it back to the grid, yielding a potentially higher return than mining.
For miners who don't operate continuously or need to curtail, NiceHash is an optimal choice. Our PPS (pay-per-share) reward system ensures they aren't penalized for disconnecting, unlike in some other pools.
UK's Travel Rule Comes Into Effect

The U.K.'s Travel Rule, effective since September 1st, mandates digital asset businesses in the U.K. to gather, authenticate, and disseminate details about digital asset transactions, potentially holding back certain transactions if their origin is suspect.
Introduced on August 17 by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), its goal is to counter money laundering and terrorism financing in the digital asset domain, aligning with global standards from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). If the necessary information about a transaction is missing or unclear, the involved U.K. crypto firm can legally withhold the assets.
Businesses are urged to exercise diligence, monitor global Travel Rule updates, and conduct risk-based assessments, especially with non-compliant jurisdictions. Collaboration efforts also include the Joint Money Laundering Steering Group (JMLSG) and HM Treasury (HMT) to assist firms in adhering to the rule.
El Salvador Pioneers Nationwide Bitcoin Education

El Salvador, in collaboration with My First Bitcoin (MPB) and Bitcoin Beach, is pioneering the introduction of Bitcoin education into its public school curriculum by 2024.
Launched on the 2-year anniversary of the Bitcoin Law, the pilot program will train 150 teachers to integrate Bitcoin knowledge in classrooms. The program is based on MPB's Bitcoin Diploma, which has already educated 25,000 students.
The initiative is eyed by the global community, with early talks to extend similar education in two other Latin American countries.
