Welcome to the NiceHash crypto news digest. Let's see what happened these last few days.
EU Lawmakers to Limit Anonymous Crypto Payment

On March 28th, the European Parliament’s Economics and Civil Liberties Committees voted for a proposal to set stricter anti-money laundering (AML) rules, and also to restrict transactions in cash and crypto assets.
“MEPs want to cap payments that can be accepted by persons providing goods or services. They set limits up to €7000 for cash payments and €1000 for crypto-asset transfers, where the customer cannot be identified”.
The text was adopted with 99 for, 8 against and 6 abstentions, but the European Council will still need to approve the legislation before it becomes law.
Leaked ChatGPT Plugins List Includes “Crypto Prices Plugin”

ChatGPT, the famous AI Chatbot, has recently implemented support for plugins, which help ChatGPT access up-to-date information, run computations, or use third-party services.
The internet was intrigued when an API call returned over 80 “secret” plugins, among which is a Crypto Prices Plugin. If the name is anything to go by, this plugin may give ChatGPT access to live crypto prices. When combined with other tools that allow ChatGPT to crawl the web, ChatGPT may soon be able to give you trading advice based on social media trends, and more.
However, do note that this is merely a leak. We can only wait and see what the future holds regarding crypto and ChatGPT.
NVIDIA CTO Says That Crypto Does Not Bing Anything Good To Society, Despite 550 Million in Revenue On Its CMP Lineup Alone

In its recent 8-K form, it is revealed that NVIDIA’s Crypto Mining Processor (CMP) revenue for the 2022 fiscal year was 550 million. This revenue is for their specialized CMP GPU lineup alone, and does not include the increase in revenue caused by regular consumers purchasing NVIDIA’s RTX gaming GPUs.
Despite the tremendous past revenues related to crypto mining, Michael Kagan, NVIDIA’s CTO, recently said that he “never believed that [crypto] is something that will do something good for humanity. You know, people do crazy things, but they buy your stuff, you sell them stuff. But you don’t redirect the company to support whatever it is.”.
Kagan further added that “All this crypto stuff, it needed parallel processing, and [Nvidia] is the best, so people just programmed it to use for this purpose. They bought a lot of stuff, and then eventually it collapsed, because it doesn’t bring anything useful for society. AI does”.
NVIDIA itself has had a strong position against crypto in the past, as is evident by its artificial hashrate limiter that crippled the hardware’s performance when mining, and which NiceHash was the first to unlock. It is unclear if this recent stance against crypto comes as an excuse to steer away from the recent heavy decline of CMP revenues, due to the lower profitability levels during the past few months, into their more favorable field of AI.
With the recent rise of Kaspa, we have seen the GPU profitability increase once again, so history may repeat itself. If you’d like to learn more about how to mine Kaspa (KAS) check this article.
NiceHash Hits New All Time High Of 2 EH/s For SHA256ASICBoost Hashpower

Over the past few months, NiceHash has seen massive increases in its SHA256ASICBoost hashrate. This week, we are proud to have it a new all time high of 2.16 EH/s on this market! This represents a 96% increase from the 1.1 EH/s available on January 1st, 2023!
The increase is partly due to the much higher revenues of selling hashpower at NiceHash versus mining Bitcoin. Over the past 6 months, miners selling their hashpower at NiceHash have, on average, earned over 5% more than mining Bitcoin on a conventional pool!
