Introduction of new algorithms and release of NiceHash Miner v1.5

Today we're releasing a new set of features on NiceHash, most notably the support for additional algorithms and also a new version of NiceHash Miner software.

New algorithms

Hodl

Hodl is a CPU-based algorithm and can be efficiently run on any recent CPU. Buyers can use Hodl algorithm to mine any Hodl based coins, currently the most popular would be HodlCoin and recommended target pool to use on buying orders would be suprnova hodlcoin pool. If you are a seller (miner) you need a special fork of cpuminer, called hodlminer. Binaries are available and ready to be downloaded from here.

Connection settings for hodlminer

hodlminer -a hodl -o stratum+tcp://hodl.LOCATION.nicehash.com:3352 -u YOUR-BITCOIN-ADDRESS.WORKER-NAME -p x

Example for mining on EU location:

hodlminer -a hodl -o stratum+tcp://hodl.eu.nicehash.com:3352 -u 1DQ4bZpFTDiSNk2CWLEFWK9K96rBFP2Hv.corei7 -p x

Decred

Decred is a modified version of Blake256 14-round algorithm. Since original Decred specification lacks stratum support, we made a few minor patches to the Decred specification in order to be able to put support for Decred on NiceHash. The specifications are published here. Pools and mining software have to be patched in order to be compatible with the new specification. If you are a buyer you can already submit orders by using suprnova pool on special port dcr.suprnova.cc:2255 as target pool. If you are a seller (miner) you'll have to use new version of miners. A new version of sgminer has already been released, whereas the maintainers of ccminer mining software should patch ccminer and provide new release with support for the modified specifications.

Dagger-Hashimoto

We already had support for Ethereum mining on NiceHash, however today we're also releasing beta support for purchasing hashing power for Dagger-Hashimoto algorithm. Any coin, based on Dagger-Hashimoto can be mined with this algorithm, including Ethereum of course. Once again, original Ethereum specification lacks stratum support, therefore we made a few minor patches to the Ethereum specification in order to be able to put support for Dagger-Hashimoto on NiceHash. The specifications are published here. Pools and mining software have to be patched in order to be compatible with the new specification. Currently there are no public pools available, but we made a basic Ethereum pool which follows these specifications and other pools can be prepared according to these specifications. Full source code for the patched Ethereum pool can be found here. If you are a seller (miner) you'll have to use new version of miners. We patched Genoils ethminer and full source code as well as beta windows binary can be downloaded here. Hopefully Genoil and other mining software developers will follow the improved Ethereum specifications and include them into their mining software releases. Please note that due to lack of pools and mining software, current Dagger-Hashimoto algorithm support is considered as beta, but will be put into full production mode as soon as pools and mining software will be released.

Connection settings for NiceHash ethminer

ethminer -G -S daggerhashimoto.LOCATION.nicehash.com:3353 -O YOUR-BITCOIN-ADDRESS.WORKER-NAME:x

Example for mining on EU location:

ethminer -G -S daggerhashimoto.eu.nicehash.com:3353 -O 1DQ4bZpFTDiSNk2CWLEFWK9K96rBFP2Hv.amdrig:x

WARNING! Currently this only works with NiceHash ethminer!

NiceHash Miner v1.5.0.0

A new version of NiceHash Miner brings support for new algorithms - Hodl and Decred, new optimized kernels for AMD GPUs with >100% speed up for AMD 3xx series GPUs on popular algorithms such as Lyra2REv2, Quark, Qubit and X11, as well as some other general improvements and bugfixes. You're welcome to download NiceHash Miner.

Thank you for using our service and keep on hashing!

Best regards,
NiceHash team
