If you own an Bitmain Antminer S19 series and want to use custom ASIC firmware on it, you will need to know what kind of control board your model or models have.

What Antminer S19 series control boards are there?

Three different control boards for the Antminer S19 series are out in the wild. The control board type mainly depends on the time the ASICs were manufactured. Early models have Xilinx and BB control boards, but lately, we are seeing Amlogic in the newest models.

• Xilinx - Also known as ZYNQ
• BB - Also known as BeagleBone Black
• Amlogic 

How to recognize the type of S19 control board?

The easiest way to recognize the type of control board is to check for an SD card reader. Each control board has a different location of the SD card reader (or has none).

Some models might also have a control board written somewhere on the ASIC.

Xilinx

Xilinx or ZYNQ control board has an outside-facing SD card. You can easily insert an SD card in the reader without removing the board cover.

BB

BB or BeagleBone Black control board has an SD card reader hidden under the board cover.

Amlogic

Amlogic control board has no SD card reader on the outside or inside of the ASICs. Amlogics only supports microUSB.
