How NiceHash secures your wallet?
NiceHash gives you the option to store many different cryptocurrencies in your NiceHash wallet. Our main concern is securing your funds and your account against hacks and unauthorized access. In this article, we will explain how we secure your wallet in case of any suspicious activity.
The best thing that you can do to secure your account is to use a strong password and 2FA. To learn more about how to set up a 2FA for your account, please read this article.
The only link with your NiceHash account is your email. If attackers get access to your email account, it is very unlikely we would be able to detect or prevent any malicious activity (withdrawing funds for example). So make sure you secure your email account as much as possible! We recommend that you use a separate email account for your crypto-related activities.
Still, we do have some mechanisms implemented to prevent unauthorized access to your account. Attackers will usually try to reset your password. If we detect password reset requests for your NiceHash account and you don't have 2FA enabled, we will disable all withdrawals, API keys, and some parts of buying and trading for your account for up to seven days. This will give you enough time to contact us and your funds will stay safe. During this time no one will be able to move your funds out of your NiceHash wallet. The same procedure will happen if you will change your account email or disable your 2FA. Once we complete the implementation of the KYC processes, you will be able to identify yourself quickly and unlock your wallet features immediately.
Our customer support agents can also freeze your account (withdrawals, API keys, hash-power orders, and trading) if we detect someone is trying to impersonate you or trying to get access to your account.
Secure your account by enabling 2FA now!
