Ethereum is not minable anymore. What now?
The mining community has come to an end of an era. Ethereum was the number one ASIC-resistant coin that most GPU miners mined since 2014. As we are ceasing to mine Ethereum, we welcome new projects that will be, thanks to all the GPU miners, more secure than ever and will have more attention from the GPU mining community. Who knows what the future holds?

What will happen with GPU miners now?
GPU miners will switch to other algorithms and cause a significant influx of hashrate to these projects. As a result, the difficulty will increase a couple of times, and mining profitability on these coins will drop. Miners will switch between multiple coins quite often and will need to spend a lot of their (else free) time making decisions regarding what coin they are going to mine. You can read more about what will happen with GPU mining in this article.
Luckily, NiceHash Miner does profit switching automatically. With zero interaction needed from the person managing the rig or mining farm. You can give NiceHash Miner a try and decide if you like it.

I am using NiceHash Miner. What now?

Nothing, you are all set. Make sure that you are running the latest version, the NiceHash team will take care of the rest. We will make sure all the most profitable coins are supported on NiceHash. The best thing about this is that you will always get paid in Bitcoin and every 4 hours if at least 0.00001000 BTC is accumulated.
You can check the latest version on our Download Center and inside NiceHash Miner > Settings > About.
Note: Enable auto-update in NiceHash Miner > Advanced settings to stay on the latest version.
I am using NiceHash QuickMiner. What now?

If you wish to use auto profit switching between the algorithms, you should use NiceHash Miner. We took care of the easy transition from QuickMiner to NiceHash Miner with QuickLogin in NiceHash Miner. The mining address will be automatically applied on the first run.
As of September 2022, QuickMiner supports four minable algorithms that are available on NiceHash:
- DaggerHashimoto (Ethereum)
- ETCHash (Ethereum Classic)
- Autolykos (Ergo)
- KawPow (Ravencoin)
Please update QuickMiner to version 0.6.0.0 or higher to use these algorithms!
The default mining algorithm before was DaggerHashimoto. On the day of The Merge, we will change this algorithm to ETChash.
Make sure you are using the latest version by checking our Download Center or GitHub for the latest online stable release and by right-clicking on the QuickMiner icon in the windows tray menu and selecting About.
I am using NiceHash OS. What now?
At the time of the writing, we are still heavily invested in developing the new Ubuntu-based mining OS. We are using our developer resources to release the new release of NHOSv2 as soon as possible. The current NHOS will feature only the ETChash algorithm for a short period of time after The Merge until the new Ubuntu-based NHOS is released.
No monthly subscription of fees for using NiceHash OS. NiceHash OS is free to use!
Please follow our social media pages and blog for updates regarding NHOS development.
I am using 3rd party miner or 3rd party mining OS. What now?
If you are using third-party miners and paid mining OSes, we instead suggest directing your hashing power to NiceHash. You can generate a stratum URL (a.k.a pool address) via our stratum generator and use our mining address (provided to you inside the NiceHash dashboard) as your wallet address. Read a guide here.
Note that you will still need to change the miner config or flight sheets manually, but you will get these benefits when mining to NiceHash:
- You will always get paid in the same currency and eliminate the unnecessary hustle of exchanging the currencies for a preferred one.
- You will not get punished for pool hoping and thus decreasing profits - Pools can punish miners that disconnect from a pool often.
- You will not be left with "dust" on the pools because you might not reach the minimum payout threshold - NiceHash pays out every 4 hours if at least 0.00001000 BTC is accumulated.
